This is for Suryavanshi Arya Katika

Are all our Kar’s are based out of Bombay?
Where is our real base from?

Below is some brief on our Caste

History of SURYAVANSHI ARE-KATIKA
During the time of the king Shivaji, the Surya Vanshi Are Katikas were warriors and followers of the Maratha king. After the Mughal war on Maratha, the soldiers were scattered and spread all over India.
'Are' is a synonym for Marathi. In the Madras Census Report of 1891, it is recorded that the term "Marathi" denotes the various non-brahmin castes who went south either as soldiers or camp followers in the armies of Maratha invaders. Their ancient profession was to serve as warriors, but they are now mostly engaged in other professions.
Members of this caste were scattered after Shivaji conquered and defeated Moghul rulers. After the death of their king Shivaji , the clan had none to lead them in battles. They faced many hardships under Muslim rule and had to forego their identity as warriors, opting for professions such as: liquor dwelling (Jaiswals & Lodha), weaving (Rangrez), farming (Kachi), rasing cows for milk (Ahir Gowli), washermen (Ahir Dhobi), or butchery of sheep (only to the extent of removing the skin of the sheep and cutting it in parts).
Issue of name change
The community is socially and educationally backward and 90% of the people are engaged in mutton business. They have been called as Are-Katika and Katik. Recently some people started calling themselves as Suryavamshi and calling them as Katik will not impute any degradation and they will not be looked down by others by calling as Katik. In fact the national organization is called as Katik Samaj. There is no justification to change the name and it will create confusion and they will not be recognized if the name is changed as Are–Suryavamshi. Hence A.P. B.C. commission disallowed change of name but allowed use of synonym.
There has been improvement in recent times in the status of the community due to the improved educational opportunities for the caste.

  1. Hi
I am sorry if this comment hurts people , but this is a fact which makes many of us suffer.
I did a research and came to know that people(family) who did intercaste marriages are eliminated from the community. Don’t you people think this is unkind act? This is something where humanity is vanished .If community has to be saved then it can be achieved by doing good things like educating ,helping poor people in different communities/castes. This makes people know about Are Katika caste.
When I query people in this community about encouraging this elimination of intercaste married people, they say they are saving caste without polluting the community blood!! Where does this kind of blood comes from?? When they are injured or any organ transplantation is required, do they see if the blood/organ being injected is of same caste person !! Obviously not !!
Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can; there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.❞

Learning can be from any religion/community people and can be implemented to save humanity and moral values in people. More we educate children with human values and culture, more they will useful for forming a good society and also themselves.
This is not only for this community, may be everywhere where rich people defines such rules which creates hatred in people.
Spread this message who ever feel this is a justifiable comment!!
